Tbilisi city tour details
The tour begins in the Old City, near our Tbilisi tourist office, or we will pick you up at u your hotel. First location to see will be Meydan Square near the Kura River, not far from which the famous Tbilisi baths are located, which laid the foundation for the history of the city; then you will visit the Narikala fortress - the main citadel of the city in the XVI-XVII centuries.
After the fortress, you will go to the Legvtakhavi gorge, or, as the locals call it, the Fig Gorge. It is from this gorge that overlooks the colorful and vibrant Tbilisi houses with carved balconies and tiled roofs. Also in the gorge there is the Legvtakhavi waterfall of the same name - it ends with the mountainous shallow river Tsavkisistskali.
Further, walking along the narrow and winding streets, you will see a mosque - the only Islamic temple in the city, and you will go out onto Shardeni Street - a pedestrian street, having learned the name in honor of Jacques Charden, who made a trip to Georgia and left the earliest graphic image of then Tiflis.
Along the pedestrian street of Erekle II, you will reach the Sioni Church - the main temple in Tbilisi. Having preserved its ancient appearance, Sioni keeps one of the main shrines in Georgia: the Head of St. Apostle Thomas and the ancient cross of St. Nino. Also in Sioni the famous classic A.S. Griboedov and Nino Chavchavadze were married.
The next point on our old Tbilisi tour part is the Rezo Gabriadze Marionette heater with an unusual tower, from the painted doors of which an angel appears every hour, beating the bell, and twice a day the whole performance “Life Cycle” is played out.
After exploring the Old City, you will go by car pass Tbilisi tourism information center and Turm to Rustaveli Avenue - the main avenue of Tbilisi, on which there are many historical, cultural and public buildings. The Georgian Opera and Ballet Theater, apartment buildings, the National Museum of Georgia, the parliament building - this is not the whole list of attractions located along the avenue.
Rustaveli Avenue closes Freedom Square, in the center of which is the monument of Zurab Tsereteli, depicting St. George killing a dragon.
After that, we will go to the second most important avenue in the city - David the Builder Avenue, on which the State Center for Music of Georgia, the film studio "Georgia-Film", and the Tbilisi Geophysical Laboratory are located (I.S. Stalin lived and worked in it in 1899-1901) , musical comedy theater and much more.
Then you will go to another significant Georgian cathedral - Tsminda Sameba temple on the hill of St. Elijah. The construction of the cathedral was dedicated to the 2000th anniversary of Christianity and the 1,500th anniversary of the autocephaly of the Georgian church, and today Tsminda Sameba is a magnificent, 68-meter-high cathedral in a strict retrospective architectural style.
The final point of Tbilisi city tou will be Rike Park with the Peace Bridge adjacent to it. Rike Park is a modern park with many art objects (singing fountains, large chess, a drinking fountain in a cubic style), and Peace Bridge is an architectural solution of the Italian Michele de Lucca.
At the end of the tour, we return you to the hotel / apartment.
